LAUNCH of DUBLIN NORTH EAST 'DIAL TO STOP DRUG DEALING CAMPAIGN'Published: 8 October, 2008
LAUNCH of DUBLIN NORTH EAST 'DIAL TO STOP DRUG DEALING CAMPAIGN'. Wednesday 8th October 2008. Speaking today at the launch of the Dublin North East 'DIAL TO STOP DRUG DEALING' campaign, spokesperson Cllr Larry O'Toole stated: "Dial to stop drug dealing is currently being rolled out in a series of local campaigns in a number of local or regional drugs task force areas around the country. The Dublin North East campaign is run by the Local Area Drugs Task Force and focuses on all areas in Dublin North East.
"We know from the success experienced in the Blanchardstown pilot project that Dial to Stop Drug Dealing can yield information on drugs that is of major significance to the Gardaí and we want to replicate that success for the Dublin North East area. We are asking people to pick up the phone, Dial 1800 220 220 and pass on whatever information you might have on drug dealing activity in your area. "Every piece of information is valuable, no matter how insignificant you might feel it is. "Drug dealing has been a scourge on our communities for over twenty years and the onus is on each and every one of us to make our communities safer places for ourselves and our children to live in. The day is gone when we can assume that someone else is going to solve the problem - we all, each and every one of us have a role to play. "Dial to stop drug dealing is a safe, confidential and anonymous way to pass on information on drug dealing in our communities." |
