Hands Off Priorswood Post Office!!

Published: 10 February, 2006

Sinn Féin councillor Larry O'Toole has condemned the decision to relocate Priorswood Post Office to Tesco Clare Hall shopping centre. Cllr. O'Toole said the Priorswood post office has provided a vital service to the local community.
Cllr. O'Toole said" Normal postal requirements and social welfare payments will be severely disrupted by the loss of the service, particularly those on disability and old age pension. Several residents expressing their concerns have contacted me.
Cllr. O'Toole added, " When Clare Hall Tesco opened I asked about postal services not being included and at that time they said it would not be a requirement. If they now realise that a post office is a requirement in their centre - they should not steal it from the local community. I got the impression then that people who were paid through the post office were not good enough for their image. Obviously they have now realised that people who are paid through the Post Office have expendable income also."
