Dublin North East Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

O'Connell Street Is Not Cyclist Friendly.

Cllr. Larry O'Toole, Sinn Féin, has raised the issue of the absence of any cycle lane facilities in the newly
refurbished O'Connell Street. Cllr. O'Toole said "I have a question down for the December meeting of Dublin City Council asking the City
Manager to explain why there are no provision for cycle lanes in the newly refurbished O'Connell Street.
Also I will be raising the issue of the less than adequate provision of secure parking facilities for bicycles in
the city centre." Cllr. O'Toole added, "It would be a shame that the excellent work being done on the street would be
diminished by the lack of thought for cyclists. I wonder are we serious about creating an alternative to
the motorcar at all if we do not provide safety and security for people who wish to use an alternative."
