Call for improved facilities at Dart StationsPublished: 23 August, 2006
Larry at Howth Junction Dart Station Councillor Larry O'Toole has expressed concern at the lack of proper platform facilities for Northside Dart commuters. Having journeyed from Howth to Connolly Station to observe at first hand the seating and shelter provided, Larry stated that the problem was particularly acute at Kilbarrack, Raheny, Harmonstown, Killester and Howth Junction Stations.
Speaking today Larry stated "While the Dart refurbishment has been a great success, there is at present inadequate seating on platforms as well as a lack of shelters. While we have enjoyed a particularly good summer I am concerned at the sort of conditions that people will have to endure over the winter. All of the stations I visited had inadequate seating and shelter from rain and snow. This needs to be addressed urgently."
"While some stations had a few seats and shelters, no station had what could be described as adequate seating and shelter, particularly for rush hour crowds. I am writing to Iarnrod Eireann to request that these necessary facilities be provided as soon as possible and in any event before the onset of winter."
