Cycle lanes highlighted

Published: 17 August, 2006

Councillor Larry O'Toole has welcomed the introduction of a new two-way cycle lane at the Darndale Roundabout between the junctions of Blunden Drive and Priorswood Road.

However he has called for the reinstallation of two cycle lanes on each side of the Malahide Road from the Artane Roundabout to the Goblet public house. These lanes were temporarily removed during much needed road resurfacing in 2005 and have not been restored. This is now one of the few parts of the Malahide Road without cycle lanes.

"This will help to encourage more cyclists to use this route and comes at a time when there is increasing motorised traffic congestion. We need to get out of our cars and on to our bikes" stated Larry.
