PEOPLE POWER WILL WORK!

Speaking today after the demonstrations in the city centre by students and the elderly, Councillor Larry O'Toole stated " I want to commend the senior citizens of this country for rocking the political system and for forcing a climb-down by the Government. People power has worked - now let's keep it going.
The people of this country demand and deserve a Universal Public Health Service where all are treated the same regardless of income.
Our elderly have spent their working lives paying taxes to the Government and now in their latter years the least they deserve is a decent health service when they need it. Other countries in Europe, with less money than us, have prioritised the health of their people and provide a proper service.
Ireland today has the worst Health Service in Europe, in spite of the good people working in it. It is starved of proper funding, equipment and facilities. Doctors and nurses are at their wits end just to keep going in terrible conditions.
Let's fight for a Health service we all deserve!
